Worldwide Mom’s Day of Prayer Update

From Kathy – LET’S GET REAL!!!

The economy STINKS!!! Because it STINKS life has been greatly affected in families all across the world. I have seen the look in the faces of men and women and it is a look of “lost hope.” You see, I understand this look because my husband and I have faced this walk in many areas of our lives. What areas? In our business, both of our children being diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa – an eye disease, breast cancer…no other way to put it than to say – IT IS HARD!!!

The scripture that I have grasped over and over through these times is Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in time of trouble.” Oh, how I cling to that scripture especially in the middle of the night when my stomach feels like it will explode from worry.

So this update is to ENCOURAGE and CHALLENGE – YOU – to bring a Mom’s Day of Prayer to YOUR area! If you can only host it for one hour – GO FOR IT!!! You can host a MDOP on January 16^th or any day throughout the year. JUST GO FOR IT!!!

Why bring this to your community? Because FAMILIES NEED PRAYER MORE THAN EVER!!!! WAKE UP and look into the faces of those who you come in contact with during each day – the look is there.

You can have small business type cards made with the date, times and location of your MDOP to give out to every woman you come in contact with. Believe me, IT WILL BE WORTH IT for your community, your state and the world.

My devotion today from “Streams in the Desert” by L.B. Cowman – “Abraham, “without weakening in his faith, faced the fact that his body was as good as dead…Yet he did NOT waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God” (Rom.4:19-20). May we “watch and pray so that we will not fall into the temptation” (Matt. 26:41) of praying faith-diminishing prayers.”

LET’S GET REAL – Our communities need YOU to host a Mom’s Day of Prayer in your area. I Challenge YOU today to seek God’s face to do this. “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” (Prov. 29:18) YOU can bring the “vision” of MDOP with the power of God’s Holy Spirit to your area!!! GO FOR IT!!

Worldwide Mom’s Day of Prayer Update…..September 24, 2009

Dear Prayer Warriors~

Kathy and I just wanted to let you know that if some of you are being called to coordinate a Mom’s Day of Prayer in your community and the third Saturday in January does not necessarily fit into your church calendar, you may want to consider another date. It has come to our attention that we have not made this clear that you may coordinate a MDOP on the date that is best for you and your church. We have had several ladies coordinate a MDOP in May which is close to Mother’s Day weekend or in September when schools starts back in session. Please know that Kathy and I will be praying for the date that God leads you to coordinate this special day in your community. If you have any questions or need assistance in getting started, you may e-mail me at msparkhawk@hotmail.com or call the MDOP Office at 479-452-6215.

Worldwide Mom’s Day of Prayer

January 16, 2010

The 2010 Worldwide Mom's Day of Prayer will be honoring a very special mom, school counselor and faithful MDOP attendee, Sonja Hix. Sonja went to be with Jesus this summer very unexpectedly and we feel God wants us to honor her in this way. We will also be honoring all School Workers across the world. So the 2010 MDOP is in honor of a faithful praying mom, Sonja Hix, and in honor of all School Workers across the world.

Please contact Melinda Hawkins at msparkhawk@hotmail.com if you are planning on coordinating a 2010 Mom’s Day of Prayer. If you are planning a MDOP on another date other than January 16, 2010 please e-mail me your information so we can add your information to the website.

Do you ever want to give up?

God put it HEAVILY on my heart to ask a very special mom

and friend to share her heart with us about why she does not

give up praying. Colleen Nick is a mom whose 6 year-old daughter,

Morgan, was kidnapped from a ballpark in Alma, Arkansas 14 years

ago. Colleen, I thank you from the depths of my heart........

To Pray Or Not To Pray?

My friend recently asked me, “Why do you continue to pray for your children when you aren’t seeing the answers? Why don’t you give up?”

The answer is not quick or easy. The answer itself is more of a question~“Am I committed beyond the current sorrow in my life?”

I have long found my answer in the book of Samuel.

1 Samuel 1:9-18

At Shiloh, Hannah went over to the Tabernacle after supper to pray to the Lord. Eli the priest was sitting at his customary place beside the entrance. Hannah was in deep anguish, crying bitterly as she prayed to the Lord. And she made this vow: “O Lord Almighty, if you will look down upon my sorrow and answer my prayer and give me a son, then I will give him back to you. He will be yours for his entire lifetime, and as a sign that he has been dedicated to the Lord, his hair will never be cut.”

We see that Hannah’s heart was broken and that is why she was in deep anguish & sorrow, and was weeping bitterly at the Temple. We see that God’s promise to her was clear, and that she went back home expecting to conceive the child that she had longed for, had dreamt about, had already been picking out names for. She had already imagined this precious baby nestled in her arms. She could already smell that heavenly scent that only babies have. She envisioned those tiny fingers curled around hers. She may have already prepared some tiny outfits, a pair of tiny booties, perhaps even a hat to keep that little head warm. She may have desired a boy more than a girl, since this would reflect well upon her husband. Or maybe in her heart of hearts, she wanted a sweet baby daughter who would grow into a woman and a friend. Only Hannah really knew all those things. Only she can answer those questions. But the one answer that I do have is that she desired a baby with everything within her. And she was willing to go into the Temple alone to plead with God. And she was willing to be chastised by the Priest for behavior that she had not taken part in. I know that Hannah was committed to staying in the presence of God until He answered her prayers.

After Samuels birth, I wonder if Hannah thought about the promise she made? Or did she push it to the back of her mind, saying to herself that it was three or four years away, that Samuel would not be weaned until he was at least three, maybe four years old, and that she did not have to think about it right now? I wonder if the time slipped by as time often does and if Hannah grew more comfortable and began to breathe more easily as Samuel continued to grow under her care.

Was she dreading every footstep that brought them closer to the Temple entrance? And I wonder – had Hannah been talking to Samuel about this day for his entire short life? Or did she just bring this up a week ago? Or maybe just yesterday? How do you find the words to tell your tiny son that you are going to leave him in this place with complete strangers, and that he cannot go home with you?

Did Hannah feel angry at God about this unsolicited promise that she made to him?

Hannah’s heart had been wrapped around this baby who had been conceived in prayer. Her prayers. Prayers prayed faithfully and with great expectation. Had her prayers brought this terrible day? If she had known that this was the outcome would she have changed her prayers that day in the Temple, not willing to face that these prayers of faith might bring terrible pain?

The Bible only recounts the facts at this point, not the emotions.

This is the moment she has dreaded. The one where she takes her hand from Samuel’s tiny one. This is the moment that she holds him so tightly against her; he feels he cannot get his breath. She inhales the scent of his hair and caresses his baby cheeks. As she looks deeply into his eyes, her heart cries out with all its might, “Please don’t forget about me! Please, please understand why I am leaving you here! I love you so much! Please forgive me. I am not abandoning you!!! I’m not! I made a promise to God that I must keep….”

The moment of the tears, running down her face thick and hot, so many that she can barely see Samuel as he finally realizes that his mother is leaving him. Wishing that she could not see his bottom lip begin to quiver. Anguish filling her heart as his tears match her own in intensity. Two hearts breaking in unison as she must turn and walk away. His cries filling her ears as the hands of a priest, perhaps even Eli, restrain him so that he cannot run to her. His wails are all that she hears.

And sorrow, so massive that it cannot be measured, sweeps her to the depths of her very soul.

And the thought that it wasn’t too late! She could run back and snatch Samuel to her! She would lay his head against her heart so he could hear it beating and she would promise him that she would never, ever leave him again. She would proclaim her boundless love for him.

Who would blame her? Rightfully she could have insisted that God had never asked this thing of her. She had volunteered. She had been carried away in the middle of her grief and longing for a baby, and had made a rash promise that no one could possibly have expected her to keep. Her friends would have certainly understood her reversal on the promise. Her extended family would be thrilled to know that Samuel was returning home to them where he belonged.

With great personal pain and anguish, Hannah chose obedience.

Because of Hannah’s obedience, her nation and the entire world have been affected and changed. Yet Hannah would never know that these things would come to pass. She could not begin to comprehend what God would do with Samuel’s life. At that moment she didn’t care that God would bless her abundantly with babies. She did not see the big picture God had planned for Samuel, or the end result. All she knew was that God was asking her to do the unthinkable. And she did. 1 Samuel 2:1 Then Hannah prayed: “My heart rejoices in the Lord! Oh, how the Lord has blessed me!”…….

Hanna rejoiced….Without the big picture. Without the end of the story. With Sorrow.

Which leaves just one question?

Am I committed past sorrow?

My prayers continue to pound heaven for the lives and salvation of my children. I have asked myself if I am willing to persevere in prayer when my heart is so broken and filled with sorrow. Is there a time to finally throw in the towel? Can God really expect me to assault heaven with petitions that seem to go completely unanswered? I believe the answer is yes. The Bible is full of stories of regular people who stayed true, and believed, and sweated, and cried, and prayed ~ and they never saw the answer to their prayers. It was future generations who witnessed the answers.

I will not hand over to the enemy the futures that God has planned for my children.

The very best I can do for my children is to become still and quiet before God, to walk in His soothing grace, to be committed past whatever pain I am facing in my life and to pray without ceasing for my precious children. The question I was asked was “Why keep praying for your children?”

My answer is simple. Why not?

Testimonies from MDOP Coordinators
From Lin in Highland, AR – Abundant Life Church: Our first MDOP has been a successful beginning for our area. We had 38 and 20 visiting from our neighboring churches. Each message shared by our opening session presenters was so wonderfully appointed by the Lord. All were words of encouragement and counsel shared by our godly women in this community. At the close of the prayer event, the MDOP committee divided up the 38 prayer requests and spent another half hour praying over each request. Also, we are excited to announce that Ash Flat Church of Christ has formally asked to host the 2010 MDOP – Praying Moms DO Make a Difference!

Also, we had 14 ladies sign up or expressed interest in gathering to pray once a month for the children! Wow – wouldn’t that be powerful to pray for our kids in unity ONCE A MONTH with a dedicated group of ladies?

Kathy’s thoughts – Lin, thank you so much for sharing with us! Please check out the Moms In Touch International website atwww.momsintouch.org. I am a leader for a College/Career MITI group in my area and it is awesome!!! Again, thank you for this encouraging report! You are a blessing to MDOP!!!

From Earlette in Jamaica, Gospel Light House Assembly: It was a GREAT day with the Lord and mothers. We started at 10 a.m. and ended at 3 p.m. I suppose that the word was spread abroad about MDOP 2008 so this year we got a “bumper crop” of about 50 ladies! We prayed for our nation and different aspects of our family life – children, spouses, and being mothers. We also prayed for Kathy’s daughter who was diagnosed with the eye disease…..I hope she is doing better.

Melinda and Kathy, we prayed that God will continue to give you the desire to continue with MDOP with guidance and directives. Overall, I say again it was a great day!!!!!

Kathy’s thoughts – Earlette, thank you so much for all the prayers of the ladies there in Jamaica. I am humbled that you prayed for our Elizabeth. She will be blessed to know that you remembered her on your special day!! God bless you and please know that Melinda and I will stay with MDOP as long as God says for us to. We love you girls there in Jamaica! Thank you!

From Linda in Hereford, Texas – Trinity Fellowship: This is the 3rd year for the MDOP in Hereford. The first year they had no one show up. Last year was my first year and we had about 50 or so but this year we almost tripled! God is so good!

I changed things up a little bit this year and decided that if this was all about our kids then I was going to make it about the kids. We had a “Fun Room” for the kids while their moms prayed. It was a HUGE hit. And then I decided to have some form of entertainment all day long. We had some great praise and worship. The Spirit of God was present all day long.

Our prayer request baskets were full. I took baskets to each nursing home here in Hereford the week before the event and picked them up a couple of hours before MDOP ended. We put the nursing home prayer requests with the MDOP requests and prayed over all of them then released balloons after we prayed. Wow – what a day!

Our community has really stepped up – Praise God! The community bought a MDOP street banner last year which was $700. This year they bought us yard signs, paid for everything in the “Fun Room” which had one of those big bounce arounds in it, and paid for lots of other games for them to play with. We also gathered children from all over town and taught them 6 songs to sing at the event. They were great!! One of the steak houses in town furnished them a burger lunch after they sang. Then they played for about an hour before we had their moms pick them up.

It was a GREAT DAY! God bless you for getting this started – for being obedient to GOD because our kids are worth all the hard work!

Kathy’s thoughts – You know, Linda, you are exactly right – “Our kids are worth all the hard work!” And you surely put in a LOT of hard work! This is amazing how your community is supporting the MDOP! Wow!! I love it!!! Thank you – Thank you – Thank you!! I am refreshed and renewed by this God-honoring report. Thank you!

Saturday, January 17th is the official Mom’s Day of Prayer. Some of our churches host the MDOP on other days and we are thankful for EVERY church no matter what day it is held!!! Thank you for your hearts to bring the MDOP to your area!!!

Thoughts from Kathy Coleman, MDOP Founder

The scriptures that God has given me as we get closer to January 17th is from Isaiah 40:28-31, “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
The Message says it this way, “But those who WAIT upon God get fresh strength...” God gave me a picture of how we as moms wait most of our lives.

We wait 9 months to birth our precious children, we wait while they take their bottles or breastfeed, we wait at doctor’s offices, we wait at basketball – baseball – softball – football, etc. practices, we wait after school to pick them up, we wait as they decide which college to go to, and then we wait and wait and wait some more through their lives.

But God tells us that “Those who WAIT upon God get fresh strength.” Do you need “fresh strength” today? I do. Our 23 year-old daughter, Elizabeth, was diagnosed this week with Retinitis Pigmentosa, an eye disease that can lead to blindness. Our 29 year-old son, Rob, was diagnosed with this same disease in 2000. My husband, Rod, and I and our family need strength. And God tells us He gives it to us IF we wait and hope.

Let’s pray that we NEVER GIVE UP and that we always WAIT and HOPE no matter what our circumstances in life turn out to be.

MDOP Newsletter - Nov/Dec 2008

As I write this it is one of those days when the last thing I want to do is minister or write or do anything. Yes, I am discouraged. I am tired of the battle that my husband and I have been in with our business for the last four years and continue to be in. The answer to all my problems today would be for God to give me a PERFECT life. Have you ever felt this way?

David Wilkerson, Pastor of the Times Square Church in New York City, said in his recent newsletter the following: "There simply is nobody on earth who can lift your soul out of despair. No one can keep your spirit encouraged through the duration of your crisis. We all have to get our own word from the Lord. Like David, we are called to strengthen ourselves by recalling God's deliverances in our lives. And we must also remember those times when God has proven fruitful in past generations."

Those words are TRUTH. My prayer today is that you and I will stand on God's past deliverances, on His encouragement and on His Word which is "sharper than a double-edged sword." And because I did not fall into Satan's plan for me NOT to write this "Heart Search", I feel Victory coming into my life already. Come on, girls - let's FIGHT THE FIGHT TOGETHER. Remember - "Iron sharpens Iron!" Let's fight this battle through PRAYER alone and with other PRAYER WARRIORS!

If there ever was a time for women to come on board and coordinate a Mom's Day of Prayer - IT IS NOW!!! Ladies, it is NOT too late to get on board and to bring the MDOP to your area. I want to ask you to truly pray about what God would have you to do.

Our children, grandchildren and the children of the world need us to unite in prayer across denominational lives to change our towns, cities, communities, and the world. Are you WILLING?

I CHALLENGE you today to organize a MDOP in your area!! Will you take the CHALLENGE!!! You may be tired, lonely, discouraged, depressed, etc. but God can STILL USE YOU!!!! Phil. 4:13 - "I can do ALL things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me." Please let HIM strengthen you and GO FOR IT!!! A message from my heart, Kathy, Galatians 2:20

A report from Cassandra in Barbados
I praise God for what He has done through the MDOP. I now have a greater understanding of the urgent need for prayer in Barbados. One major praise report is that a little girl came with her mother to the MDOP. She asked if I would pray for her friend who was not a nice little girl. Let me say that this brought me to tears and if she was the only person who came with such an attitude and determination, it would have been a success for me.

A report from Barbara in California
The first hour of prayer truly felt like a mountain moved...it was powerful! I did have the prayer bowl and one woman had placed a prayer request inside the bowl for one of her adult daughters. Three hours later, this daughter came to the church parking lot and her mother invited her to come in to watch the MDOP DVD. Praise God! The day was truly a blessing, and I am so glad that we were able to serve God through this event. One woman from another city dropped by the last hour and commented on the strong presence of the Holy Spirit.

I want to thank each of you for your hearts to pray!!! Melinda and I know that God has a plan for MDOP to change communities through the prayers of women who know the POWER of UNITED prayer!

I want to encourage each of you to NOT GIVE UP!! No matter how long you have waited – don’t give up!! A new believer asked this question the other day – “How long do you wait?” And we all know that the answer is to wait for however long that it takes!!! Today, I ENCOURAGE YOU TO WAIT AND NOT TO GIVE UP!!! The battle is not yours but God’s!

May God strengthen you today for whatever “the battle” is in your life. May He raise you up causing you to walk with Him as never before because of the POWER OF THE CROSS!!

There are wonderful reports coming in from the 2008 MDOP Coordinators. What a blessing to hear from each of you! Thank you for sharing:

From Sharon in Lavaca, AR – “January 19th was a fruitful day of prayer. Each hour moms came and prayed for children in all situations. We prayed for our own children, children in our church ministries, Sunday School, Awanas, choir, etc. We prayed for children whose lives are crushed by broken homes, homes with addictions and abuse, children in prisons and local jails, and children of pastors and missionaries. One of my most special memories was my prayer time with a dear lady named Carol. Carol has participated in every MDOP. On Jan. 27, 2008, Carol’s mom departed this life to be with Jesus for eternity. When the church’s foundation was built, members placed their favorite scriptures around the sanctuary. Together, Carol and I stood in the place where Carol’s mom had placed her scripture. We thanked God for the life of a wonderful Christian mom and the example that she left for all of us. God is faithful to give strength and peace in a time of loss and pain.”

From Mandy in Logan, Ohio – “I didn’t have a lot of time to get the word out about our MDOP but we had 19 ladies attend and we’re talking about doing another MDOP in the spring so that I have more time to get the word out. I think that MDOP is such a great thing and so important.”

From Stephanie in Cynthiana, Kentucky – “The MDOP went very well for our first year. We had 36 women attend from 11 different churches. The weather prediction for the day was snow flurries and a high of 17 degrees. We kept praying that the weather would not be a hindrance for women who wanted to come and He was faithful! All day people were coming in and saying, “I thought it was going to be really cold today.” Instead it was in the upper 20’s and sunny all day with not a flake of snow. That is the power of prayer. Two women gave praise that day because they had experienced difficult days in the past months because of a husband in the hospital, family illness and wrecks. They could have easily stayed home and not attended the MDOP, but they came and left renewed and uplifted from being in the presence of the Lord with other women who have a burden to pray.”

From Earlette in Jamaica – “Our MDOP was a BOMB!!! As we say here in Jamaica – “It was awesome!!!” The ladies came out in their full number. There were even unsaved mothers from our community. We invited these mothers to the altar and prayed for their soul’s salvation as well as for God to direct them in growing up their children in the way He wants them to. We started at 10:30 a.m. and closed at 3:45 p.m. The ladies were so excited and from the prayers that were offered, one could tell that they came prepared to meet with God regarding their children, their families, their community, and for the nation. We used the List of Burdens that was on the MDOP website also. Overall it was a great day spent with the Lord!!! Some of the ladies asked me when it is going to happen again because they are going to invite more people next time.”

A Great Word of Encouragement

A very timely newsletter came through the mail a few weeks ago. It was from Pastor David Wilkerson of the Times Square Church in New York City. He talked about the “dry ground” times in our lives when we do not feel God working or believe he hears and answers our prayers. Pastor Wilkerson said:
“Simply put, dry ground is a path. And if you’re on it, then you are going somewhere. You’re not losing ground or going backward; your dry ground is the Lord’s plan, his work in your life, his miracles to perform. You are moving toward a revelation, a new victory in Christ, toward something greater.”
This blessed my life and I pray it blesses yours. We can’t give up during the “dry ground” seasons of our lives. We have to keep our eyes on the prize. Please pray about hosting a MDOP in your area. This is truly a tool used by God to ignite a passion in your ladies to “pray without ceasing.”

The voice of the Father will be heard as He
sets before us a widely opened door and
receives us into blessed fellowship with
Himself. When we pray for the Spirit’s help,

A Few Stories from MDOP Coordinators

“Our MDOP was awesome! There were six hours of non-stop praying. Our ministry assistant came out during our time of prayer to show us a praise report that one woman had already emailed in. The praises continue to flow into my email box. I get statements of how much depth there was, how the Holy Spirit was so obviously hovering over us, how one depressed woman was lifted up, and how another woman was convicted of her lack of commitment to regular prayer.”

“MDOP is so important, Kathy. I am praying that 2008 will also be a year of MANY answered prayers for all of the children around the world.”

“There are no words to explain how God moved at our MDOP. Every woman who attended left changed. Hope was renewed, faith was restored and women were refreshed. This was the first day of a new prayer strategy for all of us. We were well represented with elderly and young women, black and white, Protestant and Catholic and all of us alike in that we cried out to God for the children.”

MDOP – A Tool Used to Promote Prayer Groups

MDOP is a wonderful way to promote praying with a regular prayer group throughout the year. At each MDOP, I encourage the Coordinators to display Moms In Touch International brochures and any other prayer group information that meet in their areas. I continue to hear over and over how the MDOP was not just about that one day but that it encouraged those attending to find ways to pray all year long with other women in their community.

It continues to amaze me that some people really do not believe that I ever want to just give up. Let me set the record straight today – there are times that I become so discouraged that I DO want to quit and say, “Lord, I give up! Help me!”
My Moms In Touch International Stand Firm calendar says for the first week of September the following:
“Unwavering Faith, Romans 4:20-21, “Yet he (Abraham) did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.”
Abraham did not know the way, but he knew the Guide. Lee Roberson
The key word that came to me through that devotion is “strengthened”. I cannot give myself the strength to do anything. The power comes from Almighty God as I humbly ask Him for HELP. God loves it when we give up trying in our own strength and turn to him and say – “Help.”
Do you want to give up today? With all my heart, I want to encourage you to do as the song says, “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.” He is our source of strength when we want to give up.
My Challenge to you today is not to give up. No matter what you are going through, no matter what unanswered prayer hovers over you, no matter who has hurt you and hurt you deeply, no matter the diagnosis that has come your way, no matter what – God is waiting and willing to strengthen you from your cries of HELP.

GOD IS THE VICTOR – Do We Believe This?
My Pastor has been preaching to us from 2 Kings concerning King Sennacherib, the King of Assyria, and his scare tactics against Hezekiah, King of Judah. This is what the Assyrian King asked Hezekiah in 2 Kings 18:19, “On what are you basing this confidence of yours?” That question hit me like a ton of bricks.

When I don’t see the answers to my prayers like I think I should, where is my confidence? When I can’t see each of you ladies out there who are seeking God’s face about coordinating a MDOP in 2008, what is my confidence based on? When the cancer diagnosis comes, what is my confidence in? When God urges me to “Walk by faith and not by sight”, where MUST my confidence come from?

My Pastor shared yesterday how Hezekiah PRAYED. Where did he pray? In the temple…..he bore his soul to God. His confidence was given a HUGE boost. My Pastor continued to assure us that God hears our prayers and He answers. That the enemy Satan is no equal to our God and as 2 Kings 19: 31 says, “The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.” I challenge you today to BELIEVE that “the zeal of our LORD Almighty will accomplish” what we are praying for.

Since the first MDOP here in Ft. Smith, Arkansas in January of 1998, I have seen so many prayers answered for our area. One prayer I am now seeing answered after 9 years is that God is bringing Youth Ministers to our area who have a heart to work together for the sake of God’s Kingdom. This is SO EXCITING!

God has heard our prayers for our area and this is a HUGE answer to prayers from each MDOP. We women have cried out for the churches to work together for the sake of lost children everywhere and to see it happening in our community is HUGE! And I believe with all my heart that our prayers have shown us “the zeal of our LORD Almighty” for this very thing.
Is God calling YOU to Coordinate a MDOP for your area? MDOP gives the ladies in your area a HUGE BOOST. Don’t hesitate – God will lead, guide and direct you each step of the way.

Thanks to so many of you for your emails, love, concern, support, and prayers during this chemo journey. I am now finished with chemo and radiation and will begin a treatment called Herceptin every 3 weeks beginning at the end of this month. This will be until March of 2008. “Kathy, many, many moms and dads raise their children in godly homes. There are also so many children out there with praying grandmothers. Children can be raised in the same home and one will love Jesus with all their heart and then one will rebel and rebel and rebel and rebel. But I don’t stop loving them because they rebel and neither do their moms and grandmothers. Just like you replant the dead flower with a new one, the prayers that are said over and over for that child continue to be sweet incense to Jesus who is at the right hand of the Father interceding for that child also. I’m not going to give on that child. Trust me.”

You see when I spot a dead flower I can’t wait to replace it with a new one. This is the same way we are about that wandering child. We can’t wait to pray again and again for their hearts to be turned to Jesus. Those prayers are like planting a new flower in place of the dead one. Our prayers are powerful and effective. It is like raising those children from the dead. They WILL one day be alive and new in Jesus. We can’t give up ever! We know that God hears our prayers and answers them.

Gardening has been great therapy for me through this cancer journey. Prayer is GREAT THERAPY for us. We can give our cares and concerns about our children to Him and rest in His peace that He will take care of those precious children. I CHALLENGE you today to give God whatever is going on with your child or children. He can handle anything!

Jesus said to his disciples in John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have PEACE. In this world you will have trouble, but take heart! I have overcome the world.

GREAT NEWS! During the month of February, Melinda and I will be working with Kirsten Cutsinger in producing a MDOP Coordinator Training Video. This is something that we know will be of great benefit for each MDOP Coordinator.
We want to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to Kirsten Cutsinger, Program Director for the local Inspiration Network. Her insight and direction in this project is truly a blessing from God. As soon as this video is completed, we will notify you so you can contact Melinda to mail you a copy to prepare you for MDOP 2008.

This rest of this MDOP Update will be dedicated to the wonderful stories we have received from MDOP Coordinators sharing about their recent Mom’s Day of Prayer. Melinda and I are so thankful for each of you! What a blessing you are to your communities and to the world.

- From Theresa – “Truly we had a wonderful day. Each of the ladies that I asked to pray at the beginning of each hour were wonderful in their presentation and prayer. We were blessed to have so many of our members present to assist where needed. I envision contacting each church in our association and each church of the various denominations throughout our community, identify the person who pursued MDOP, and coordinate with each to have an exciting experience on January 19th, 2008, next year’s MDOP date.”

- From June Ellen – “We had 59 ladies present that were strong prayer warriors.”

- From Jeri – “It was a great day! We had groups of women from different churches come together and pray for the children of their churches. God, as always, moved us from one area of need to another as different groups of women came in.”

- From Merry Beth – “MDOP – I can only say today was such a blessing …..I listened to the women…some just praying and weeping silently…others pouring out their hearts verbally. I was there from about 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. The room was dotted with women all over the auditorium. I felt as though I had entered into the unseen battlefield with Satan, yet Jehovah Nissi was leading the way in prayer. God caused me to pray as I prayed…for most of the first hour, I was simply silent, not led to pray aloud at all…then it came….it was a precious powerful day.”

- From Debbie – “I felt blessed today taking time from my busy life to reflect on God’s desire for my children and their mates. God has a plan for everyone and a praying parent goes a long way. Thank you for having a heart for the generations to come by founding the MDOP. I pray this is an ongoing event for our church.”

- From MaryAnn – “Saturday was so wonderful! I can’t even begin to tell you the work God did in our church. Our Prayer Bowl was a blessing to so many. The mom that helped at the Prayer Bowl table said that women visited with her about their concerns as they wrote their requests down. She took these requests home with her afterwards for her and her husband, the Assistant Pastor, to pray over. At the end of our last hour, a Pastor from another church closed us in prayer with everyone at the altar placing their hands on the Prayer Bowl praying with him. Kathy, I can’t tell you how blessed I was by that day. I told everyone at the end of the day that I know I have never prayed for that long without stopping. But I also know that it will not be my last time to do so. I could feel God. Our Prayer Leaders were so moving.”

- From Michelle – “Thanks goes to 60 plus ladies from 16 different churches who made our first MDOP a blessing to many today! God was glorified in all the prayers that were prayed. Everyone was such an encouragement to me. Another church has eagerly agreed to host MDOP in January 2008. One dear sweet lady came out in tears saying, “Thank you so much for having this at your church. I felt the presence of the Lord here today. I am so thankful for the hundreds of names that were brought before the throne today. A lady from the City Team Youth Ministries came to pray for the 200 children she ministers to and asked for bookmarks to give to each of them. We will be providing her with all these bookmarks.. What a blessed day!”

Are these stories not wonderful? I am so very blessed as I sit here and type each of these stories for you to read and ponder over. There are many more stories to come so I will share them with you in the next couple of weeks.

Psalm 37:34 – “Wait for the LORD and keep his way…..” – I want to challenge each of you in whatever you are going through in life to “WAIT FOR THE LORD and KEEP HIS WAY”. It really breaks my heart how we have become so accustomed in life to quick fixes, quick service, quick food……well, just quick everything. This is so far from what the Lord God Almighty teaches us in His word.

Are you waiting patiently right now for a prayer for a child to come through? May we all bind our hearts together and WAIT and WAIT some more but continuing at ALL times to “keep his way” and to not give up as Satan intends for us to do.

Governor Mike Huckabee of Arkansas blesses MDOP – This week Governor Huckabee presented MDOP with a Proclamation claiming MDOP a day of prayer in Arkansas. This is such a HUGE BLESSING for MDOP and please pray it will be used as just the beginning of Governors across the U.S.A. to do the same. Truly, I ask you to make this a matter of prayer because I believe this can happen in every state if we pray and see what God does!! “We have not because we ask not”.

From the Heart of Kathy: I want to make this update short because I know you are all busy preparing for Christmas when we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! This Christmas means more to me than ever.
On November 28th, I had surgery to remove a tumor in my breast plus 4 lymph nodes. Without a doubt many of you have gone through the same thing in your life. On December 28th, I will begin Chemo and then Radiation after those treatments are complete. The verse that the Lord has kept on my heart for 2 ½ years now and especially at this time in my life is 2 Cor. 5:7, “We walk by FAITH and not by SIGHT”.

I believe that GOD IS ON HIS THRONE. I believe that God is who He says He is and He is our “ever present help in time of trouble”. I believe that God does not promise us a life free of pain and suffering. Let’s all read again and again Hebrews 11:

“Some faced jeers and flogging, while still others were chained and put in prison. They were stoned; they were sawed in two; they were put to death by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated-the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, and in caves and holes in the ground.”
You may be saying, “Kathy, thanks for the positive attitude today”. Well, I do have a positive attitude that GOD IS ON HIS THRONE. That the world around me may be falling apart, that life is many times hard, that pain is truly real, that suffering happens to the BEST of the saints but I want to live a life of CONTENTMENT.

Please pray that I will be “content in whatsoever situation I am in”. This is my HEART’S DESIRE.

“This is the day that the Lord has made, Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” – The Lord keeps putting this verse on my heart over and over and over each day. No matter what our circumstances, this could truly be a verse to begin each day with. Just when you think you cannot go on, I challenge you to say that verse over and over and over.

From the hearts of my children:

I want to begin this update by sharing with you the thoughts of my two precious children on what MDOP means to them:

From Elizabeth, 21 years-old: “I feel like MDOP is more than just ONE day of prayer. I feel like it is a reminder to moms to pray without ceasing all year. It is an event that is truly talked about all year long. The MDOP vision is to bring women together in unity all around the world to pray for something that lays so heavy on their hearts – children.”

From Rob, 27 years-old: “MDOP is more than a one day event. It is a lifestyle. It is an environment where women not only support their kids by praying, but a way to expand their own personal growth. As I look back on my struggles in my educational experience, I realize that it isn’t getting any easier in today’s environment. I think moms and women in general have a much tougher time being able to share and feel closeness in relationships. MDOP is a very positive and safe place that women can have open, honest and real accountability within their lives of raising children. I always go back to a verse when thinking of MDOP – “When two or more come together, God is there”. PRAYING MOMS TRULY MAKE A DIFFERENCE.”

Here are some wonderful comments from MDOP Coordinators who are preparing for their MDOP on January 20, 2007:

Michelle encouraged her Prayer Leaders to – “Start praying for the Lord to move mountains and change lives on this day.”

Nettia and her team have been having a weekly prayer time on Wednesdays for their MDOP. They have invited women of all denominations to come and pray with them. One mom said, “I am unable to be at the prayer time this morning but went on to ask, “Are we still going to meet through November to pray? It means so much to me to have other women praying with me for our children.”

The Vision for MDOP….

From the beginning, God showed me that MDOP is not about just one day of prayer. This day ENCOURAGES moms to pray all year together. At each MDOP it is the perfect time to promote prayer groups that are meeting in your area. After Alma, Arkansas held their first MDOP, they felt led to begin a Moms In Touch International Prayer Group. Praise the Lord!

Please don’t forget to have Moms In Touch (www.momsintouch.org) and other prayer group information to give to each MDOP attendee. If one mom comes and catches a vision to pray in unity with other women throughout the whole year – IT IS WORTH IT!

From the Heart of Kathy…..

The time it drawing near to January 20, 2007! We are praying here at the MDOP office that if you know God is calling you to coordinate a MDOP, you will GO FOR IT! You will not be afraid but know that Jehovah Nissi, the Lord our Banner, is going before you.

I love this scripture from Colossians 3:23, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” GO FOR IT – God will provide everything you need to call moms to pray in your area.

I love this devotion from one of my calendars that is from Elisabeth Elliot:
“When I am in need of refreshment, it isn’t easy to think of the needs of others. But I have found that if, instead of praying for my own comfort and satisfaction, I ask the Lord to enable me to give to others, an amazing thing often happens-I find my own needs wonderfully met. Refreshment comes in ways I would never have thought of, both for others, and then, incidentally, for myself.” “He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:25

MDOP is a REFRESHMENT to others. At the first MDOP here in Ft. Smith, Arkansas back in January of 1998, I realized on that day that MDOP was NOT ABOUT ME but about those precious women who came through that door. It was about the precious children all over the world. It was about families and the pain so many are going through. It was about GOD ALMIGHTY and coming together in UNITY to see what HE WOULD DO as we joined our hearts in prayer across denominational lines, racial lines and socio-economic lines. Hallelujah – Praise the Lord!

So if God is calling YOU to bring MDOP to your area please pray and know that God will GO BEFORE YOU.

A Mom Shares Her Heart about MDOP:

“As I attended the MDOP I could picture all the children of the world at the front of the church as we prayed. It was a picture to me of literally laying all of these children at the feet of Jesus as we prayed together for so many different issues that touch the lives of children. During my first hour, the church was filled with moms taking turns lifting up prayers out loud to the Lord. Then I stayed another hour and it was very quiet with only one mom and one grandmother praying out loud. The rest of this hour…..women quietly prayed to themselves as they sat in their pews. It was beautiful. I just cried and cried knowing that God heard each and every prayer that was being voiced either out loud or silently. The presence of the God’s Holy Spirit was so precious in both hours though they were different.
After I left the MDOP, I had an urging in my spirit to pray more during the year than I had ever prayed for my children and especially for the children around the world. My heart was blessed more than words can describe. I just can’t explain what attending a MDOP did for me. Please share this with other women around the world.”

My Heart:
“This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” This is a scripture that God keeps putting on my heart each and every morning. And one of the reasons for this verse is because so many women are sharing with me how Satan is attacking their lives, their businesses, and their families.
How in the world are we going to continue to STAND in the midst of these trials? Ephesians 6:10-18, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your STAND against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the FULL ARMOR of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to STAND your ground, and after you have done everything, to STAND, STAND firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayer and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”

This passage from Ephesians is stressed in a book I am devouring – 40-Day Journey to the Heart of God: An Adventure in PRAYER by Tammy Price, www.heartsofprayer.com. I can honestly say this book is a gift from God in my life and is teaching me what SURRENDER truly means. For me, I have desperately needed a “Journey to the Heart of God” with all the trials, heartaches, and disappointments I have experienced in the last 2 ½ years.
Only God knows where YOU are today in your life. I feel with all my heart that we are feeling Satan’s attacks stronger than ever. We need each other and we need to encourage one another. May God strengthen you in such a way today that you are ready to fight the evil one with all God’s power and might knowing that this “BATTLE IS NOT OURS – BUT GOD’S!” Hallelujah – Praise the Lord!

Melinda and I are excited about the January 20th, 2007 Worldwide Mom’s Day of Prayer! God is calling out churches to host this day of prayer and calling out MDOP Coordinators! Please share this newsletter with others on your email list. You never know that your email to someone may be the answer to their prayers.

Proverbs 11:25, NIV – “He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” My prayer is that God will refresh you as you read this MDOP Update.
An email came to me this week with this quote from Mother Teresa of Calcutta, “What I do you cannot do; but what you do, I cannot do. There is special excitement in the air at the MDOP office! Our daughter, Elizabeth, is getting married July 22nd to Justin Voris. Please remember us in your prayers!

Churches are coming on board for 2007 – please pray that God will open doors for all of us to share MDOP with the world. I am praying for 100 churches to come on board for 2007. Let’s see what God does through our prayers!

God Has Supplied -
Chonda Pierce, the Christian Comedian, is coming to Ft. Smith, Arkansas, and MDOP has been given the wonderful opportunity to sponsor this special event. MDOP will receive a portion of the ticket sales so if you are in the Ft. Smith area, please help us spread the word and please come! We need volunteers to hang flyers at the present time all over Ft. Smith and the surrounding areas. Please let us know if you would be willing to help in any way.

Mother’s Day Cards -
I would like to thank each of you who made a donation to MDOP in honor or memory of those special ladies in your lives for our Mother’s Day Fundraiser. Melinda and I would like for each of you to know that we prayed over each envelope that we addressed. We heard some precious comments from those who received a Mother’s Day card from MDOP. One mother said, “This is the greatest gift you could have given me.”

Please remember MDOP when honoring a birthday, Christmas, anniversary, etc.

Website Update –
Have you been to the MDOP website lately? Each week we add new prayer requests for each day of the week. It has proven to be a blessing to those who have visited the website. Please check it out at www.momsdayofprayer.com

Here is what one MDOP Coordinator shared with us about the prayer requests – “I think the prayer request ideas for each day are a wonderful tool. Yesterday’s request was to pray for children who have diabetes. Immediately a young 12-year-old girl that dances at my daughter’s dance academy came to my mind. Her mother works in the office there. I just had to copy the web page to give to this mom with the request circled. But right after I copied it, I knelt beside my bed and said my first prayer ever specifically for this young girl’s health and life. It made me feel so good to serve the Lord in this way. I thank God for his perfect timing and I thank MDOP for providing that connection for me and for this mom who might feel that no one cares.”

Kathy’s Heart……
There is something very heavy on my heart as I write this newsletter. Last month I received a prayer request from an elementary school teacher. This is what she said, “I really do think sometimes that I just can’t do my job anymore. Things are changing and not for the best for kids. It hurts. I have a precious group of teachers and we pray together! It is awesome! But the school system is pushing things like, “Johnny has two daddies” or “Sarah has two mommies” so that we will become culturally diverse. I just don’t feel right implementing this kind of stuff in my classroom. Please pray for our schools and Christian teachers.”
So I knew as soon as I read this prayer request that I would put it in the next MDOP newsletter. Our school system NEEDS PRAYER like never before in the history of our country. I want to encourage each of you to visit the Moms In Touch International website at www.momsintouch.org. During the school year, I co-lead a College/Career Moms In Touch group and we cry out each week for our schools, our teachers, our children’s work place, and our children’s needs. Moms In Touch is a great way to impact lives and schools.
MDOP is a great way to promote prayer in your area. At each MDOP, we have Moms In Touch brochures and other brochures about prayer groups for each MDOP attendee to take home with them. How exciting to know that God can use YOU to bring women to pray not just on one day but all year long with other women.

Greetings to each of you from Kathy –

A True Story:
Last week my 21-year-old daughter, Elizabeth, said to me, “Mom, I want God to just come down here and speak to me….stand right beside me and speak to me.” Of course, I assured her that God is right there with her at all times but she still had that look of unbelief in her eyes.

Then last Friday evening as she was driving home she hit a deer. It was 11:30 p.m. in the evening. She pulled over to park her car and a fireman “just happened” to see her hit the deer and pulled over to check on Elizabeth. He urged her to stand outside the car because it was very dangerous to be sitting in a parked car on a busy highway.

Elizabeth lives in Little Rock, AR and I live 2 hours away but I “just happened” to be in Little Rock that weekend visiting with my niece.

The next day she needed me to pick her up at the collision shop but needed help tying her car hood down because it would not stay shut. Of course, I did not know how to do this but as soon as Elizabeth hung up from talking to me, a new resident at her apartment complex came walking by. She asked him if he had any rope and if he knew how to tie down her hood. Well, he “just happened” to have some rope and he tied down her hood so she could drive to the collision shop.

Coincidences – No, I believe God answered my prayers. When Elizabeth shared with me a week ago that she wanted God to come down and be right beside her, I began praying that God would show himself real to Elizabeth and he has!

Think of this….think of ALL THE PRAYERS that were prayed on January 21, 2006. How excited do you think God was to hear ALL THOSE PRAYERS!! Do you believe He is at work answering those prayers? HALLELUJAH – PRAISE GOD – HE IS!!

Matthew 18:19-20, “Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” (NIV)

Deborah in New York – “It was a total blessing! I let the moms know that there were mothers all around the world praying in one accord on that day. I am confident we will grow next year to include other areas.”

Pastor Kelly in Indiana – “We gathered and prayed through our emotions, fears and were able to pray in joy and thanksgiving for our children.”

Cyletha in Kentucky – “We had a beautiful time praising God and praying for our children. During the week of this prayer event, there was a news report about two mothers that were killed in an automobile accident and left children and spouses behind. We felt led by the Holy Spirit to pray for these children who had lost their moms that week.”

Barbara in Ohio – “The MDOP caused one young mother to go home that evening and spend quality time with her four-year-old daughter. Her daughter, by her mother’s admission, has “rage”. The mother was very much inspired by coming to the MDOP. Another young mother who has a three-year-old boy told me that when she got home, she looked over the prayers and saw that many of them spoke to her concerning the issue she has with her son. These prayers were written out by me before the MDOP.

On Sunday, another mother came to me where I was sitting and without a word kissed me on the head and walked away. I humbly felt like it was her way of saying, “Thank you”. I can hardly wait to get started on contacting all the churches in our area for 2007!”

Kay from Missouri – “The Lord was in our presence. One lady from another church came to me and said, “The minute I walked through these doors, I felt the Lord.” It was an awesome time.”

Thanks to each of you for sharing from your hearts. We are blessed to hear from you.

I have stacks of reports from MDOP Coordinators that I will continue to share in future MDOP Updates. It thrills my soul over and over as I read these stories. I wish I could print every word that are in these letters and emails. I am so thankful.

Please continue to pray for the MDOP movement. YOUR PRAYERS make a difference. Please pray for the MDOP finances, for God to spread the word about MDOP and for every town and city across the world to have a MDOP.

There is no way I can thank each of you enough for the kindness you have shown me in the Homegoing of my mother. You have been a source of comfort in my life. Thank you. January 2006 - Worldwide Mom's Day of Prayer

As of today.......
As of today, there are 44 churches on board to host a MDOP in 2006. Incredible!! We serve an AWESOME GOD!! Please know that each of you as Coordinators and your churches are being prayed for. One dear lady at my church sent me a card this week and it said, "I was just thinking of the "Day of Prayer" and thought how many times a day, we all pray for our children and others. May God give you added strength to prepare for this day." That is my prayer for each of you - "ADDED STRENGTH".
Please keep in mind that MDOP just went Worldwide in 2005!! God is Jehovah Jireh! MDOP began here in Ft. Smith, Arkansas in January of 1998 so God has truly opened doors for MDOP to go outside of Ft. Smith. Please keep in mind through your work with MDOP that it is ALL ABOUT HIM. We all have expectations of how many should attend but it is all in GOD'S HANDS. You have done your part and God will do His part.
Matthew 6:34, "So don't be anxious about tomorrow, God will take care of your tomorrow too, Live one day at a time."

Something to think about....
I recently read this in an internet Daily Devotional from The Purpose Driven Life by John Fischer. It was a story about Joe, an Atlantic City, New Jersey fire captain who was a new Christian and a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Joe was having lunch with John when Joe in his discussion with John said, "See that table over there - well those are a few of my relatives, most of them are new Christians as well, most of them prayed over by my mom who was there also. (Those praying moms will get you every time!)"

Coordinator's Corner
On Friday, January 6 th, I sent out an email to each Coordinator sharing what the Prayer Leaders are all about. From your comments after receiving my email, you needed to hear from me. At this time, I want to share with each of you some of those precious comments:

Deborah in Indianapolis, Indiana - "Just like waiting for my birthday, anniversary or some other big event - I just am so excited about MDOP! This is our first MDOP and it is right on time in the vision of our church."

Laura in Ontario, Canada - "In reading the local newspapers and watching the news on T.V., we can see the desperate need for mothers/women of faith to join together regardless of their denomination to pray for the children of our cities, communities and the world. It is our prayer that God will work in the hearts of the women in our area and all over really to feel a deep desire to pray - to pray for our children, to pray for renewal and revival as parents and as Christians. May we serve Christ with joyful hearts!!"

Jerre in Ft. Smith, Arkansas - "You are so right-------Satan HATES prayer because nothing thwarts his wicked schemes like the prayers of God's people. Not only does he hate prayer, he hates us, our families, our children, everything about us and all that we stand for in Christ. The Good News is that Satan is a loser and has lost!"

Linda in Paragould, Arkansas - "The last several nights I too have had the MDOP on my heart, in my head and in my prayers while trying to sleep. Thank you for sharing the Prayer Leader's roles in such depth. I was wondering just today how to tell some of the ladies about this important privilege they have. The answer had not yet come and your email explained everything."

Exciting News!
Most of you have never met me but I have some exciting news to share with all of you! Our daughter, Elizabeth, is engaged to Justin Voris and will be married July 22 nd of 2006!! We're soooooo excited!!

As I close this update, I just want each of you to know my heart. When God put this vision for a MDOP on my heart at the end of 1997, I had NO IDEA what I was doing. God had changed my life in 1995 and I prayed for him to use me in the way that he wanted. Everything in His word said to pray for humility and to be obedient. So when God took me to an article about moms in Brazil who were coming together to pray for their children, I knew God was calling me to bring moms together in my community to do this. I kept hearing him say, "Just be obedient....you don't have to know what you are doing.....just be obedient."
So I said - "Yes, Lord" - and then at the 7 th MDOP here in Ft. Smith, AR in January of 2004, I knew God was saying, "Kathy, it is time. It is time to take the MDOP outside of Ft. Smith." Shortly after that day, I went to my husband and shared with him what all this would mean for our lives. I would need to give up other ministries I was involved in, find someone to build a MDOP website, work full-time in this, require us to give even more financially, etc. etc. He said, "Go for it!" You see, my husband's life was also changed for Jesus Christ back in 1995. Without Rod's full support financially, through prayer and lots of love, there would not be a MDOP ministry. He is an amazing man of God and my hero.

I know without a doubt God wanted me to share all of this with you today. Again, I don't know why but I know that he wanted me to. He wants us all to "walk by faith and not by sight". This has been a VERY DIFFICULT past year with our business but I have seen my husband "walk by faith and not by sight" in amazing ways. I know that Satan desires to "seek, kill and destroy" but like Jerre Moore said, "Satan is a Loser." So through this email I would like to remind each of you before your MDOP - that "SATAN IS A LOSER!"

One dear friend of mine always had something come up with her children the day or night before the MDOP here in Ft. Smith. I will not go into the issues that surfaced with her children but the next morning she would get up, get dressed, get in her vehicle and come to each MDOP. As far as I know, she has not missed one MDOP. And when she prays......oh my goodness - SHE PRAYS.....she lets Satan know that his plans did not succeed because why? HE IS A LOSER!

"Don't worry and don't be anxious" - Pray and God will go before you in all your plans. Listen, to this devotion from my calendar for today: "Jesus reminds us that prayer is a little like children coming to their parents. Often we are grieved by the meanness and selfishness in our children's requests, but we would be all the more grieved if they never came to us....We are simply glad that they do come-mixed motives and all." Malachi 4:6, "He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers." God is so EXCITED that "we are simply coming together - mixed motives and all" to pray at each MDOP. I just can't imagine the sweet incense in heaven as all of these prayers are going up. WOW - this is just too wonderful for me to imagine.

Again, may God bless each of you in such a SPECIAL WAY this week!! Melinda and I are here for you if you need anything. May I close by THANKING Melinda who works as my assistant. God has blessed us all with her "immeasurably more than we could ever ask or imagine." THANK MELINDA.

GREETINGS TO EVERYONE!!

I just wanted to update each of you on more stories that have come in to me about the MDOP:

CENTRAL CHRISTIAN CHRUCH, FT. SMITH, AR – Roberta and Teresa, Co-Coordinators – Roberta shared: “It was a wonderful day and the Lord covered whatever we had not done. Several of the Prayer Leaders that had never even been to a MDOP have told me over and over what the day meant to them and that it has even grown in significance as they have relived it in their minds. I was surely out of my comfort zone coordinating this yet the Lord enabled! It was a joy to experience the bond of praying together with other women for a common cause – the children of the world. My daughter-in-law came for her very first MDOP and said she brought a whole list of things to pray about but never used it as it was just so wonderful being in the midst of all those praying moms.” Thanks Roberta and Teresa.

FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, ALMA, AR – Michelle, Coordinator: “After the MDOP, I had someone come up to me at church the next day and said that a lady who is a foster parent had just gotten three new children ranging from age 5 to 15 on Friday before the MDOP. The foster mom came and brought the two girls, one was age 5 and on was age 15, with her to pray and to pray with them at the MDOP. These girls had never even gone to church. She also put a special prayer request in the bowl so we prayed for them at the end of the day also. That Sunday at church the 15-year-old accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. The foster mom believes it was an answer to our prayers at the MDOP. She also said the other children have been asking a lot of questions. Praise be to God and His plan for these children’s lives. Again, I was so blessed to have been involved with the MDOP.” Thanks Michelle.

FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, LAVACA, AR – Sharon and Tammy, Co-Coordinators – Sharon shared: “Great news concerning our MDOP at Lavaca – God was faithful to bring us 40 moms to pray on Saturday. We had a few from other surrounding churches. The Spirit was very evident in each hour. I had one Prayer Leader to tell me that this was a new experience for her because she had not grown up with a mom who prayed over her. I attended the hour of prayer with her and it was very anointed. God was dealing with her heart as well as many others. I know that God has worked among His people. He is a faithful God. He did hear all the prayers lifted up on behalf of our children and He in His time will answer them.” Thanks to Sharon and Tammy.

BETHEL CHRISTIAN CENTRE, COFFS HARBOUR, AUSTRALIA – Phillippa, Coordinator – Phillippa shares about their Mum’s Day of Prayer: “I have so much amazing news to tell you that I have to write you a letter. We had 9 churches represented and 27 ladies. Seems small but lots of powerful praying was done. We had radio interviews and lots of incredible things happened. I will write you a long letter soon.” Thanks, Phillippa – we look forward to hearing more from you.

FIRST ASSEMBLY OF GOD, BENTON, AR – Kim, Coordinator – “We had a great time at our MDOP here in Benton! The presence of the Lord was so sweet all day. We had about 50 ladies come and pray. I’ve been asked by so many when is the next one! I’ve also been asked for the MDOP song for a mother who wants someone to sing it at her baby’s dedication.” Thanks goes to Kim.

NEW HOPE CHURCH OF GOD, NEW HOPE, AL – Angie, Coordinator – Many of you will remember that Angie had surgery right after the MDOP in New Hope. She was in the hospital right before the MDOP, got out to host the MDOP and then back in for surgery on Monday. “My surgery went well and I am so thankful for the prayers of my sisters in Christ. Thank you so much for your care and concern for me during this trying time. Our MDOP was a true blessing. The ladies were invited to pray in their eats, with a neighbor or at the altar. This was an awesome day! We had about 18 ladies and remember, we have a very small church. I look forward to doing this again next year.”

FOUNTAIN SQUARE CHURCH, BOWLING GREEN, KENTUCKY – Cyletha, Ruth, Becky and Phyllis – Coordinators – Cyletha reports: “I’m blessed today. We had a very good time last Saturday. Because of the weather with rain and snow, we had 20 faithful prayer warriors to come out. But God was good to us and His Holy Spirit was there also. One lady came that saw the article in the newspaper. We will have this Worldwide Mom’s Day of Prayer again in 2006.”

Remember that you are continually in my thoughts and prayers. God is at work and please help us spread the word about the MDOP movement to the world! Proverbs 16:3, NIV – “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” Each of you have seen what the Lord has done as you took a leap of faith in hosting a MDOP in your area. Yes, as Roberta in Ft. Smith, AR said – “I got out of my box.” What a GREAT WAY to “get out of our boxes” than to bring PRAYER to our cities and communities.

I pray also that this newsletter will be a blessing to those of you who are right now planning for the first time a MDOP. God will be with you as you continually commit this day to HIM in PRAYER.
