A Real Mom Living in her Real World.

As the wife of a youth pastor, a mom of two precious boys – Graham -3 years old and Owen-3 months old — and a kindergarten teacher, I find myself spinning in circles a majority of the time. If I’m not chasing my oldest son, I am feeding the baby his bottle. Or I am on the phone talking or texting with teenage girls. Or I am teaching 5 year olds that learning is fun,and yes we can dance and be silly while we are learning! Not to mention the dishes, laundry, and bills that need to be paid! No matter what time of day it is, I wear many hats. No matter what season of life it is, when you are a mom, you wear MANY hats.

As I have entered into the season of being a mom of two, I have been overwhelmed with so many hats to wear in life. I have often asked God, “Lord, what are you trying to teach me right now? What is it that I need to learn in the midst of this chaos?” Over the time that we have been praying and preparing for Mom’s Day of Prayer for 2013, God has answered with this: “Abbi, I want your complete and TOTAL dependence on ME.” Wow…talk about humbling. As I have walked the journey for Mom’s Day of Prayer, I have seen God change me. He has shown me DAILY the ways I try to do things in my own strength, even when I know HIS ways are best. In needing to be dependent on Him for every step of the way in this season of life, I have needed to pray more than ever before. He has pushed me so far out of my comfort zone in so many areas of my life lately that I have had absolutely NO choice but to ask Him for help and guidance for every step of the way.
That is the most amazing thing about how God works, isn’t it? He is at work. He is preparing the way for moms across the River Valley to come together and call on His name on behalf of our children. He knows the hats that we are all struggling to wear right now, but He has a divine appointment for all of us. Who understands the struggles that moms go through better than other moms? Who knows the love for their children better than moms? Why not unite with other moms to pour out our hearts for our own children, the children of our community, and beyond. Together, we can seek the one who knows all of our families needs better than we know them ourselves. I invite you to be a part of this special day in our community on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Amp’d Facility at Eastside Baptist Church. Don’t miss out on what God wants to do in your life and in the lives of those you love on this special day!
